Cleansing & Purging (not what you think)

So if the only thing I can change is 'me' , I would say that is great news!!! You just will never change anyone else. It's so much easier knowing that I hold the power of my life.
Last October 3rd I turned 40 and I don't know if having my birthday the night of a full moon had something to with it but some cosmic craziness ensued and my life was turned upside down.
I won't bore you with the details of my own personal journey this year but do know that I am so lucky because I have the tools to cope. It's up to me. How do I react? How do I perceive the situation? What are the facts? So with a few months left until the close of my 40th year I am making an effort to bring closure to the last 10 months and prepare for the next part of my life. That's where "Cleansing and Purging" come in.
Let Go !!!! Just let it all go... it's like a big giant exhale and a way for me to relax my shoulders that stick to my ears. I decided to go through my house and purge. I have been tearing through closets, cabinets, basements, attics, drawers and on and on. I am taking anything that I just don't need and making a big pile or giving it away to friends and in a week or so I have someone coming to pick it all up and take it away for someone who does need it. I go through everything once.... then I go through again ... and once more. I can not explain how good it feels to clear it out! So while I continue to do that I decided I need to do the same for my body so I looked around and found a cleanse to help clear what ever I have been holding on to out of me too. (not in a poopy way).  So I found a company called Blue Print Cleanse and I decided to try the 1 a week for 4 weeks. LOVE! Wow. I figure I can do anything for one day a week and so it began.
All I really want to say is that sometimes we need to be reminded that WE are the ones that control our here and now and making a decission to take control and act on it feels so good!!!
What do you need to purge? What do you need to cleanse? If you get it out you make room for new and wonderful things.

Just A Ramble

Hi friends.
Just sitting at the computer for a minute.
So here are some of my random ramblings......
I have hit an all time new record high in my weight! Duhhhhh... you have seen my food obsession confessions. I think my new obsession has to be healthier food. Better choices. Living cleaner. Knowing I'm going to Trader Joes today is going to make that tough because their chocolate covered caramels are AWESOME!!! (said in a sing-songy voice). (Side note... Monmouth County peeps.. they are opening a Trader Joes in Shrewsbury next to Staples in the fall!!!!!!!!) Anyhoo.... Wish me luck on getting back to basics and eating how I really love to.... Clean, simple and healthy. Should I announce my weight on here? Naaaahhhh... maybe I'll just let you know how I'm doing each week. I have a goal and i"ll let you know how close I'm getting.
So my other rants are...
BP Oil Spill...... Mel Gibson....NJ Housewives... (enough said)
There is a new (to me) web site that is fun... it's called http://www.gilt.com/  very fun for shopping. Check it out.
Oh and try this if you're looking for a twist on your Hummus..... Chop up a fennel bulb in big rough chunks and dive in to some lemon hummus.... AMAZING (another sing songy voice) Now that's a healthy snack I can get down with. Something about the licorice and the lemmon... very balanced... and coming from a true libra that means a lot.
Fennel Bulb pictured below.

If any of you have a fun super healthy snack please share them with me. I am serious. If you only knew how good of an eater I am at my core you would be shocked at my diversion.

Ok... I'll be back... thanks for letting me ramble.  xxxo

Just A Quick Hello

OK. I have been since 4:45. Ugh. I kept myself busy by cleaning my basement, doing laundry, eating some cheerios and now surfing on my Dell. I WISH Target or something fun like that was open 24 hours a day. I would so be there right now buying the little hand clippers I need to trim the butterfly bush and cut some hydrangeas for the house.
Only 10 minutes left until the automatic timer on my coffee pot turns on too! That is exciting. By the way, Peetes Coffee is so firkin awesome. My friend who is quite the epicurean got me hooked on it a couple of years ago and now it's all I can have! I have such a snooty pallet.
Well my friends, be safe this 4th of July weekend. Remember who's birthday it is!!! U.S.A. I'm adding a link to the lyrics of the Star Spangled Banner too. When I hear that song and listen to the words and meaning I get goose bumps every time!!!!!!

Vegas Baby

Ok.. so what didn't stay in Vegas was the 6lbs I gained!!!
Here is my breakdown on Sin City. I have some new 'tag lines' for their advertising....
1. Vegas....A Smokers Paradise
2. Vegas... Have a vice? It's a paradise.
3. Vegas... Just hand over your money and call it a day.
4. Vegas...Where everyone can pretend they're Kim Kardashian
5. Vegas...Where making memories can be a blurr.

All in all I had a blast... I think it's primarily because I went with one of my dearest friends in the world. For me I started by medicating myself for the flight because anxiety is my middle name. I'll tell you what....supplements, xanax and a Miller Light were just right for this flight!!
The Wynn Encore hotel is crazy!!!!! It's for sure the best hotel on the strip and probably in all of Vegas. We stayed on the 63 floor and I could not stop looking out of the window.... it's was like this crazy Disney World for grown ups. And I couldn't get enough of that damn pirate ship at Treasure Island.... one night it started shooting off cannons and fireworks at like midnight...hilarious!!

There was a lot of nudity on this trip too. It was pretty funny seeing that all of the nudity was between Melissa and I with our new found freedom for being naked!! oh and the one lady at the 'European Pool' shaking her new tata's.

We totally found our Zen at the VIP pool. Now that is where we belonged. Pina Colada's for me and Mojito's for Melissa all day. Heaven!
So now to my favorite part... Food Obsession Confession time.... We ate like there was a gourmet food shortage in Paris! Geeze Louise. I can only describe this through a little picture montage....

So as you can see...we did a lot of eating. Room service is my new favorite thing. Oh if you notice the 'bill'  that was for two chicks at one dinner $466.00 before gratuity!! At that point you just have to go for it. Oh and if you see a very leggy picture of a wine...it's a 1966 vintage sherry. Older than me! that little glass with a spoon in it is Strawberry Soup. Yum! We also saw a Bloody Mary and Bellini Cart..A Fish Cart & our favorite was the Cheese Cart!
The time not spent eating was filled with lots of laughs, an aesthetic show, beginner black jack, checking out the strip, the Bellagio and Caesar's and let's not forget the Bonanza gift shop. (yikes). Vegas is by far the best people watching destination to date.

That was a doozy... If you made it this far you are a trooper! Don't worry... Melissa and I are planning our next adventure already!

VEGAS....stay tuned

Just got back from Vegas.....oh the pain. The only thing that didn't "stay in Vegas" is the 6lbs I gained.... pictures and details coming soon!

Food Obsession Confession

I crack myself up.
Hmmm....why did my belly hurt? Oh yeah. So I'm trying to run a few errands and I drive all the way to Wegemans because I have to buy their chocolate sprinkles for my ice cream. I'm telling you they are the best ones. They sell them right at the register (which I totally bi-passed and went right to the back of the store to the olive bar). So I get myself a container with Olives stuffed with Blue Cheese, Sun dried Tomatoes and Mediterranean...not to be out done by the olives were those little fat hot peppers stuffed with provolone cheese and some kind of meat.... I didn't want them to feel left out so I scooped up a few of those too. I head to the register (after grabbing a wedge of some awesome looking jalapeno jack cheese) to get what I came for. My freakin chocolate sprinkles. Feeling somewhat victorious that I navigated away from everything else I decided I should reward myself with a little pack of peanut m&m's... protein.
I check out and get in my car thinking I'll snack on the m&m's and then I think..... wait.. let me try and olive... I eat about 6 giant olives stuffed with all sorts of goodness and just to be fair (while driving mind you) I shove a whole giant pepper in my mouth!!! Yummmm....I'm like an Italian Pig in Shit at this point..... feeling kind of oily now I decide....it's time for chocolate! So now on the ride from Wegemans to Deans Natural Market I am a human stuffed with stuffed olives, peppers and chocolate.
Thank goodness for goodness..... I bought two big heads of organic lettuce, cucumbers and a water.
I just want to be fair and let you know that the next day (yesterday) I woke up and made myself a Chocolate Chip Mint ice cream cone for breakfast....for dinner.... I ate a head of lettuce with some crab meat and lemon and some herbs from my garden.... feeling good about dinner I rewarded myself with another ice cream cone.
Yep... this blog is a good place for me to just tell it like it is people.....
Ok.... got to run.. time for breakfast  :)

Sex And The City.. Take New Poll at Bottom of Page.

Thoughts on Sex And The City? So far for me it has been a great excuse to continue to express my self with out being 'labeled'. I think the brand has been so great for all women who want to let out their inner Carrie's or Samantha's but have been worried about the perception of being slutty or flamboyant or flaky.
In my opinion the ability to be 'me' has been a gift I gave my self years ago. I decided long ago that if I wanted to be happy I would stay true to who 'I' am. Not who society thinks or wants me to be. So far this take on my life has made me very happy. I advise you to try it, simply.....'Stay True To Who YOU Are".
At a recent S&TC party we all dressed the part that we felt we most related to. No surprises there! That is what was so great. Knowing who would dress like which character. Therein lies the gift that this brand has allowed us to express ourselves.
As far as the movies, acting, scripts etc.... I think they stink. Love the fashions, the tips on where to go in the city and the idea of having friends that are not twins of yourself. I think it's important that we all have friends that support us and love us and will have your back no matter what. I consider myself one lucky lady because I am blessed with so many amazing friends in all walks of life.

Is Continental Airlines Kidding?

So this is rich....
Is anyone besides me under the impression that the airline industry is having a tough time? I hear about it alllll of the time on the news... they are charging for heavy bags, extra carry on, take off your shoes, throw out your crazy explosive face creams, you can't bring that sharp metal death weapon on a plane (otherwise known as tweezers) and take off your death shoes!! Ok... so we do all of this and do you think Continental could ANSWER THE PHONE!?!?
BELIEVE me when I say I would rather do all of my "stuff" online... I'm the girl that does the self check-out at the grocery store to avoid one more goofy person... BUT .... Continental is a giant company... I called the only number they list for domestic reservations and a recording comes on s.t.a.t. saying they can't take the call. High call volume. Try the Internet "Goodbye". Are you kidding me? I called at 3 different times. Well good for Continental. If their call volume is that high that they don't need to talk to anyone... KUDOS to you.
See, this is where my blog comes in handy. I can spout off and say what I want and if any of the 12 followers I have want to chime in....feel free. If not, I said my say.
A happier blog post will follow later!

A 23 year old cat. A 5 year old fish.

So I have some random thoughts I want to spout off about this morning regarding my cat.....

How is it possible that this 23 year old 4.5 lb feline can be such a dominating factor in my life? I'm EXHAUSTED today and it's only 7:25 am on Tuesday morning. How is this possible you ask? Because Olivia has been keeping me up all night over her food obsession..... Half & Half and/or Reddi Whip !

It's interesting how animals, like people get so fixated on eating. What is that all about? I'm guessing it's because we use food as a reward for ourselves and sometimes our pets. Even my goldfish 'Jeter' is obsessed with food. I feed him 3 different kinds of fish food AND Organic peas. Have you ever seen a manipulating goldfish???? Well if you haven't, come on over and witness the spectacle in my kitchen. (One day remind me to tell you about George...rest his little soul)

So anyhoo.... I guess slurping down some more coffee will get me through the first part of my day.....later I will find a nap!

Monday, Monday!

For some reason I really like Mondays. I think it's because there is a flow to the work week.
So this week I'm going to use my better judgement and see if I can control my eating habits. Last week was full of cupcakes, cannolli, BAGS of Stacey's Cin/Sugar Pita chips and on and on. Holy Cow... pun intended. I am fooling myself thinking that I have time to pull myself together before summer. HELLLOOOOOO..... it's the end of May freak show.
Does anyone else know this dilemma I speak of? What are you guys doing to curb your enthusiasm for food? Tips Welcomed.
Let's take a little look back at some of my past food finds......Oh and by the way... these photos were taken in about a span of 3 weeks. Oy Vey!

Ok.. here I am on day two of my Hey Chickie blog. I do have to make a couple of quick comments on my food... So yesterday I ate this giant awesome cupcake from Brennan's in Rumson. Holy Mother Of God it was great! Today I am sitting behind the desk of my spa, Spa 500 llc and infront of me I have a box of cannolli !! I have not indulged yet.... but It's coming.
By the way, Spa 500  is awesome. I have a secret too.... we are going to change our name soon and we are having a 'naming contest' ... stay tuned.

Day One of Hey Chickie Says

Hey Chickie Says....
This is my first blog entry ever so I'll make it short and sweet.
For all of my friends who insist that I have a blog because I'm so 'chock-full' of ideas I'm doing this thing.
Topics will be random, vast, full of poor grammar and spelling and will always be true to how I feel.
Go ahead.... ask questions, get nosy, what ever works. It's all good in the hood on my blog.
Wish me luck.
